The Ones Who Can’t Fall Asleep at Night
I sit here tonight with so many questions
My brain just won’t shut off
So many think it’s a gift to have my mind
But they aren’t the ones who can’t fall asleep at night
They don’t understand when you are constantly thinking just for the sake of using your brain
When every little thought turns into an hour long debate with myself when all I want is rest
When I run out of ideas but still my brain wants to think
So I come up with stories so that maybe this time my brain will be tired enough to let me sleep
Then when I wake they start again
I can’t focus on the TV or radio
My mind forces me to stimulate it, but it always wants more
So easily bored but impossible to tire
I read three books at once but still my thoughts race until finally it’s time to rest
But my brain has no clock it goes until it can’t come up with another thought
So many think it’s a gift to have my mind
But they aren’t the ones who cant fall asleep at night.
