Anything But Perfect
Our love is like;
lumpy pillows that still get you to sleep.
Forgetting something important but
still getting everything right.
Dancing in the rain with strangers
and giving that homeless man one dollar.
It's like an unexpected happening;
like a flower breaking through concrete.
It's like things that others would
find to be completely undesirable like
fingers on a chalkboard,
ranch and ketchup,
spoiled milk and moldy bread,
staying up late on a school night
and then walking up with only
five minutes until the bus comes,
midnight walks in mid-winter
without a jacket
or clouds on a sunny day.
It's like banging funny bones
and falling asleep feet.
A feeling which you just can't explain.
Or it's like feeling the wind
just as you make a wish
knowing that it's been swept away
to come true. That wish, being about you.
It's like cuddling on winter nights
and just watching late night television.
It's like dates to random places
that only we would enjoy
because we know what they mean.
It's like seeing the perfect moment
while everyone else misses it;
but you know it exsists.
It's more than just butterflies
floating around in my stomach
and stronger than choking on
that first "I love you".
It's better than getting everything
you want on Chirstmas morning.
Or beating morning traffic,
and getting to where you want
without any red lights.
It's more perfect than catching snowflakes
on the tip of your tounge.
And it's better than getting that A+
on something you worked forever on.
It's better than everything thats expected.
Because our love is anything but perfect
but its more imperfect than I ever imagined!
