And You Are?
I am a tree
Knarled and bent so peacefully
Days reaching longer into the leaves
And all I see
Is what has lain before me for a thousand years
I am the sea
Washing and chasing mischievously
White foam drowning and drawing lines
Across the skyline
For all to see
I am the sky
Flying ever forward before your eyes
Immense and ever-present as time passes by
And still I try
To touch further
I am the ground
Rolling and roaring with the fiery core’s sound
By gravity forever bound
Into shape and found
By all wanderers and explorers alike.
And I am you
Wishing and dreaming as humans do
Crying and laughing as children woo
Their parents and leaders with faces
So smooth
And I am me
Seeing all that is laid before me
Playing and plotting mischievously
By gravity forever bound
And in my heart is found
All of our dreams.
