Mom's looking out the window again,
Though I don't know why she still tries,
I know you left us ages ago,
But still it's her that I despise.
It's not your fault she went crazy,
Not your fault you could stand her no more,
But since you left, she's gotten worse,
Your absence her own festering sore.
Since you left when I was five,
I guide Mom through every day,
Make her presentable to go to market,
Don't show the pain 'till she's away.
While your leaving has destroyed her,
One quick blow that tore her apart,
My pain is slow-moving cruelty,
Picking away, piece by piece, at my heart.
Mom's looking out the window again,
Though I don't know why she still tries,
Your departure was a brutal, pain-filled thing,
That left Mom with hollow, tear-filled eyes.
