Standing in the Dark
People are walking by me
as if I'm not even there
am i someone they no longer see
does anyone seem to care
although I laugh and seem happy
inside I'm crying out loud
some days I feel as if
I'm being followed by a gray cloud
for fear of what they might say
I swallow my crystal tears
then I wake up to the same old day
and practically drown in my fears
I am standing in the dark
and no one seems to notice
I hear the pounding of my fragile heart
it almost sounds like the march of soldiers
and now I look at you
the one who claims to love me
but you do the same things they do
and eventually you'll also set me free
these are the words
of a lonely heart
who wishes to fly like to birds
but forced to stand in the dark
