The Voice of the Dumb

In our minds again,
the howl from beneath us
the terror in a scream
the voice of the dumb
the shock hits us in our feet
in our feet, so we walk it off
we shake it off,
ignore a spiteful face in the sand,
and stand, stand again
in our minds again,
the pained sigh of defeat,
the sound of breaking glass beneath us
the voice of the dumb
our faces have gone
under our feet
and beneath us they remain
we've been trampled into the sand.
