Desert Flower
The white curtains draw back
To reveal the hidden golden sun,
At perfect contrast with the emerald
That supports the gilded disc.
The pure, unspoiled white
Is ruffled by the warm wind
And torn from the jade anchor
That supports the silken blossom.
The white sordid, the gold fades,
Eventually becoming a yellowed parchment.
The beauty, the unbridled wonder,
Remains.
