A Poem
Perhaps I touched your hairs.
The protean ocean
Packed with tender glow
Drops backwards as your skin
Shivers full of cold fingers
Stumbling to your neck.
Perhaps the lights have faded.
The river twisting fake moons and stars
Into this swirl of currents
Endlessly glowing under your eyelids
That holds us both, as I hold you
Close to my arms,
Close to the pounding of my heart,
Your lips almost
Kissing my cheeks, almost reaching
But instead falling to my hand,
And I know, somehow,
That all these means something to you,
That you'll remember me.
Perhaps I loved you that night.
The sun bolting beyond our gaze,
A clash, a stammer of dying rays,
We could go and chase it to the west
Like a mad naked raping couple
On a beach pursuing the amber waves,
We could, but we stay,
You whisper to my ear, pause,
Your warm lily breath tingles,
You look at me, your finger barely opens my lips,
They separate,
Then you say it, and we both swoon
And mingle with the stars.
Perhaps I said I love you,
And you smiled.
