Shattered
I know you feel what I feel
Your heart beat down into shattered pieces
The empty feeling when time stops passing
You’re dead inside, but those pieces keep pounding.

You scream for help through your tears
The salty mass of all your fears
 But silence answers.
You hear the pounding of your shattered heart
 Each piece a different pain,
One of loss, and another gain.

But, inside a heart is beating.
You’re one of many that beat in time.
Through rhyme and reason, life is better
 And we remember
 Those shattered pieces fit together.
