Tears
the tears come down slowly.
starting from the corners of my eyes,
running across my cheek
and find a home on my lips.
they are salty and wet.
and they feel familiar somehow.
because these tears are so common.
they come every night.
unwanted and unwelcome.
i want to make them stop,
but i can't.
because when the tears come,
it feels like a weight is taken off of my shoulders,
making my load a lot lighter than it was before.
i find comfort in the tears,
i can rely on them to always be there.
to help ease my pain, somehow.
and, eventually,
put me to sleep.
