Falso Hopes
A tattered flag flapped in the harsh wind
Its edges frayed, just some linen
Faded red, yellowed white and light blue
Undone, forgotten, misplaced, but all true
Rusting and bent, the pole stands alone
The gears that once hoisted it groan,
With the weight to bear
Of disappointment for all to share
Good intentions gone awry
Bullets that pierced the sky
Prevention is all that is needed
To stop this massacre, a message heeded
It's not the only view
Some see right through
