wheels of hope
a little girl waits, in the cracked drive way where her tiny bare feet wait, awkwardly painted with tar and dirt
she waits, the anticipation tearing her into pieces, tears trickle down her face, her eyes filled with emptiness
knowing what the future holds
as the drive way becomes her home,
the tears become her water,and
the road became her hope,
but the home became dark,
and the water fell no more
but the wheels of hope never arrived,
just the potholes filled with empty promises
