Blindness
The blind man smiles upon the cruel world tonight.
Unknowing, unbelieving, sheltered.
He knows nothing of the terrors around him.
He is sheltered out of confusion.
He is put into and ignorant position by his “caring” folks.
He is soft and happy and ignorant.
The blind man walks on.
His eyes are painted with false impressions.
Butterflies and rainbows litter his conception.
This busting city is dangerous to his sort,
A sheltered man who knows nothing of the real world.
Floating by on privilege. Sheltered and safe.
He finds comfort in that. Even happiness.
The blind man walks on.
The sad cruelty of truth never reaches the blind man.
A shot fired so close and a child falls dead.
The truth never reaches the blind man.
An alarm sounds when a window is shattered.
The truth never reaches the blind man.
Flames sour and smoke burns an infant’s lungs.
The truth never reaches the rich man.
