Fountain People
I visit the fountain
I sit along the slippery edge
I stare at the people in the center
I can see the man viewing the woman
I can see in his face his obvious devotion
I can see he wants her to have his heart
He pursues her and she sits gracefully
She looks into another man's eyes
She finds them mystical creatures, men
Yet the other woman senses danger
She tries to send the staring ones warnings
She whispers to them, "Stay away"
But they continue to endure their longing, romantic feelings
Oh how they want to declare such feeling,
To smile into one anothers' eyes and see love
So on as time goes, they continue
They are no longer crystal clear, but hard stone
They hope for bliss, water swaying and flinging around for time ever more
