To Be or Not to Be?
She lay there,
Listening to the sweet melodies,
Of the little songbirds above her;
Singing their lovely songs,
For everyone to hear.
She stared up at the trees,
Swaying in the light summer breeze,
Brushing her long, auburn hair across her cheeks.
They looked magical,
flowing so freely in the wind.
She sighed, a deep sigh.
How badly she wished she could be as free as the trees,
Be as big as she could be.
But these were only fantasies,
For she was small, with little freedom.
She sat up, leaves entangled in her curls,
Her floral dress covered with grass.
She stayed there for a long time and thought.
A smile twitched on her face, her blue eyes twinkled as she whispered,
“To be or not to be?”
