All Of The Things That Are Associated With Being "Grown"
One of the things that I’ve seen people always want to know, is what it would be like to have grown…
What things we will see and go through,
What the past will be like, what the future will hold,
All the things we’ve done, all the things we’ve been told.
Where will we be? How will we live?
Would we still have a family? Or will we have one of our own?
All these things are associated with being “grown”.
As we take a look at our lives today, there are a lot of things that haven’t gone our way,
But all of those losses have been turned into mini life lessons
Ones that get stored away in the back of our minds,
Knowing that we won’t push them too far behind.
When we were little, we could get into trouble a lot,
Always full of mischievous fun,
We had minds of our own, and we all hated the answer “no”
We were always trying to get out and have a good time.
Before we knew it, the time had passed; we had grown up much too fast,
We all wanted our childhood past.
We had to listen to the answer “no,”
And weren’t allowed to be so full of mischievous fun.
As we grew older, we had to learn a lot of new rules,
How to clean, work and cook,
We had to learn how to live with other people, make friends and start a new family,
Throughout the years, we have grown
We have listened, and we have talked,
We’ve heard people state their minds,
And we all have stated ours.
We are still looking at the future now, for we will move on, we will continue to grow
We will continue wondering where will we be,
What things we will have seen and what things we have gone through,
What will our future look like? What will it hold?
Will we still remember all the things that we’ve been told?
Where shall we be? Where will we live?
Would we still have a family? Will we have one of our own?
All these things are what are associated with being “grown”.
