Here a Little, There a Little
My heart fell on a rock.
Hope in itself is good,
But too much is dangerous.
Hope leaves room for disappointment
And tears.
More calluses form on my heart
To cushion the impact next time.
Crushed hope adds weight to the heart-
Tangible weight,
And sorrow to the windows of my soul.
Hurt and distrust lodges itself deep within me.
Trivial things, yes
But my heart feels disappointment nonetheless.
But even as I write,
The weight starts to lift.
A new dawn breaks
And my hope is restored;
But a little more wisdom comes with it.
