DARK DAYS
I am fifteen
and my friend betrays me
the girl I cannot live without
falls for my best friend
in secret
why was I born
so short
what if I die
before tomorrow comes
And pops is in a different state
With his phone off.
I have to learn how to ride
In time for the next rodeo
My bed is too small for me
Suppose I die before sophomore year
They will sing sad melodies
But finally
Tell the truth about me
There is nothing to be done
And too much
That has been done
And pops is in a different state
With his phone off.
Nobody even stops to think
About my side of it
I shouldn’t have been the one turned down
My respect is much greater then his
Why do I have to be
The one
Who’s left behind
I have no cologne for tomorrow
Will I live long enough
To grow up
And pops is in a different state
With his phone off.
