I Love You Again
It always ends the same way,
Saying I love you,
And then it’s all over…
But it can’t be,
And you can’t just leave…
We jump off the swingset,
And run around the yard,
Stepping on the soft sand on the beach,
Throwing shells into the water…
I can’t hide it,
But I can’t say it either,
So I am neutral
In a way,
And I stand at the top of the highest cliff,
And shout to the ocean
All my darkest secrets…
