Angels
They’re gold with wings.
They only live in heaven, so you’d never see them.
Nor would I.
But then how do they explain you,
And all the other ones too?
Awesome and Awe-inspiring,
Nothing fills me with greater joy.
Your incandescent spirit,
Jesus, I could just get drunk off it.
You’re my proof.
I don’t expect any pearly gates,
And I don’t want any either.
But they said your picture would be in God’s wallet.
And I think I believe that.
So thanks for the faith,
The disillusionment I’d never hope to believe in.
And I’ll say thanks for the other people too,
Who are always blessed by your simple presence.
That soothing aura, that Heavenly smile.
And you tend to wear white frequently also.
I guess you’re my proof.
Angels are all around.
