The Rare Smile
He laughs to cover up the tears.
He smiles to hide the growing pain.
Though he is strong he is not meant to be alone.
Friends by his side pick him up off his feet, only for him to fall right back down again.
Seeing right through him like a filthy window, they know what it is that he needs.
And though they know its identity, his cure isn't easy to find.
Like the rare smile upon his face, his cure seems permanently elusive.
It appears the chase will never end, though only time will tell,
he continues to collect more scars and wander in a blind search.
Watching on as he sees distant romance, his frustration and longing continue to grow.
Knowing he has no love to call his own, knowing he has no love hold in his arms he sits alone hoping time will bring him his own.
