A Cup
Happy and half full,
even completely full, heavier, fulfills my strength,
is me when I’m with you.
Half empty when you’re gone,
lighter, less satisfying.
Half full of a cherry red Shirley Temple, different than
half full of dark prune juice.
Empty container, empty soul
You fill it up with heartwarming hot chocolate
or
sweet, fizzy, sugary goodness, my nose tingles.
Thick, icky, bitter substance slithers down my throat until I see you.
Take a sip of the good stuff, I feel more content.
You gotta know what to drink, that delicious or repulsive liquid.
