Good Dog Gone Blind
Why must this happen to me?
I can’t hear or see
What’s the matter with me?
My home is wonderful yes indeed
But the bulldog that sleeps next to me is much in need
He used to snore and drool
To me it was cruel
My mistress must yell my name
For me to hear a whisper
And I don’t know where I’m going half the time
Without hitting my tail or running into everybody
Of course I might be old
And not all that bold
But my life has been good
Since I left “the hood”
I stand here on the bridge in the backyard
Looking as the fish swishing in the pond
Thinking about life
It’s been good
I can still smell…
I can still taste…
I still feel loved…
And I will always feel at home
