Perplexing Past
I close my eyes
and reminisce.
Feeling the warm spring breeze,
your arms wrapped in mine.
I smile with exhilaration.
Hear my sister laughing,
in her carefree way.
The beauty of the day
seems to dance around us;
as the swaying leaves surround us.
Like the brightest of diamonds,
your eyes gaze at mine.
I giggle and grin,
presuming to myself,
that life doesn't get better than this.
This, this is perpetual happiness.
I open my eyes.
