Serenade Me
The awkward silence serenades me as I stare at the caramel colored desk
The same awkward silence caused by your pigheaded ways
As I look into your eyes I can tell your thinking of something to say
But being cautious of your words, in fear of my temper
It’s those same blue eyes that look me straight in the eye
And tell a horrendous chain of lies just to cover up your mistakes
Your hands fumble around one another in nervousness
It’s those same hands that held my trust
Which you so easily crushed
Finally you heave a sigh of relief
I take that as your mind is done wandering
I sit there, patiently and listen
And wait
Wait for you to serenade me with your lies and excuses
Until I’m submerged in your sarcasm
Then I’ll nod in acceptance to your apology
Then walk off into the same vicious cycle
That you have me stuck in
I count the days until you serenade me once more.
