White Horse on the Beach
I imagined us holding hands,
Walking down the beach as the sun faded past us
The moon would rise up and cover the water
Like the sweetest, gentlest nightshade blanket
And there would be no shells,
And the sand would be soft as silk under our feet
We’d swing our arms in synch,
And he’d stop and look into my eyes
He’d tell me he loved me and
Couldn’t hold it inside anymore
His blue eyes would sparkle in the dimming light,
And he’d take both my hands in his and kiss them
I’d smile and grin and giggle,
And feel so important
Then doves would mysteriously,
Yet magically fly overhead and he’d whistle,
And a white horse would run up
He’d ask for my hand and I’d hold on to him,
Wrapping my arms around him,
And we’d gallop off into the unspoken, beautiful, silent night
