Grandpa's Poem
Grandpa’s Poem
You’re so small, so frail, so fragile,
Yet so selfless,
Never wanting to worry anyone.
That’s what I love about you.
You fight for what is really yours,
Your dream of happiness for us.
You’re moving, you’re feeling just like us,
And yet we can’t,
We can’t comprehend how you really feel.
You looked at me and smiled,
Then you were gone.
Before everyone talked in hushed tones,
Not wanting me to see the sad reality.
Reality… I could clearly see.
You were distant, but we all held together for you.
Everyone’s faces, they all held fear,
But they tried not to show it.
You’re moving, you’re feeling just like us,
And yet we can’t,
We can’t comprehend how you really feel.
You looked at me and smiled,
Then you were gone.
The tears they pour like a river,
Few tried not to cry but found it extremely hard.
I didn’t know you well, but I still cry.
Soul mates tried to keep you here,
Yours tried the hardest I’ve ever seen.
You’re moving, you’re feeling just like us,
And yet we can’t,
We can’t comprehend how you really feel.
You looked at me and smiled,
Then you were gone.
Your body lays lifeless,
But I know that despite all the loss,
You are happy.
Maybe not because your soul mate isn’t there yet.
You now have a painless body, and a soul,
That never dies.
That’s what I love about you, Grandpa.
