Cutting the Ties
Hardships bring out the strongest parts of the heart,
but how you choose to deal with them is the true hardship.
With a strong heart and clear mind you can travel far,
but what’s the point in going far if you have no one to stand next to you on the tallest pedestal?
Traumatic events result in traumatic scars.
So what’s the point in trying to fix problems that when solved only bring more problems?
Creation and destruction, they’re the same thing to me.
As if a once-great thing has grown sour,
my mind chooses to ignore the source of this confusion and misunderstanding.
I guess it’s time to cut the ties with ignorance.
This is something I never thought I would have to do.
Though it has become a necessity that I do so.
If these ties remain, there is no telling what the future will bring.
And so I sit scratching a pencil upon this paper, wishing fate hadn’t shown itself.
All that I can do is learn from the friendship I once had, cherish what it held, and continue on with life.
