The Demon in Disguise
I’m just that person who walks the halls and looks at no one.
I’m just that guy who keeps his hair covering his face.
I’m only the boy who tries to cover his eyes.
I’m that demon of society who has pride in his reputation.
And so I strut with an evil smile as I grin at the ones who are disgusted by me.
My eyes glow red as I search for my socially awkward counterpart,
though they want to hide from me,
I’m an inevitable occurrence.
I’m not what the average eyes see.
The demon that is so clearly visible is merely an illusion, a cover-up.
So when you look at me use penetrating eyes.
See through the shell I bear and find the true personality that lies within my core.
Hate me, love me, search for me or hinder me,
it’s all the same.
Just stay by my side and stand your ground with me.
If I trip there is no doubt that I will fall apart into pieces.
Like an unsolvable puzzle, if you try to put me back together none of the pieces will fit.
So prevent me from tripping, catch me whenever I fall.
Stand by this demon that is neither feared nor loved,
stand by it and see clearly.
But if you choose to walk away and leave me all alone,
just remember one thing.
Once you walk away, you’ve made an enemy.
But unlike any typical enemy,
the hate for you that will burn through me so hot,
you will never feel it.
No fist will ever slam into your face.
No threats will ever be made.
No bulls*** fights will ever break out.
All I’ll do is stare into your weak eyes with a blood red pair much different from your own.
I’ll just stand in one spot and never move.
So every day you walk the halls you’ll see that demon glaring at you,
piercing your soul deep like a knife into your heart.
And the only thing you’ll be able to do is run from that demon that is me.
Never able to escape, never able to say you’re safe.
All you’ll see is my eyes staring into yours.
As you look into them they’ll steal your breath, suffocate you until you can’t move.
If you stand by my side,
this demon will never appear to be what it seems.
You’ll learn of its true side
when you look into its red eyes you’ll see them turn the gentle blue that they really are.
