Can Anybody See Me?
It is quiet in this room.
She tiptoes in,
The silence is too sacred to break
At the whiteboard she takes a marker,
And writes
Four words:
Can anybody see me?
She presses her forehead against the cool surface;
She has cried too many times to count,
She will not cry here.
Sighing, she leaves the room,
The words stay there
For someone to clean.
And no one will hear her quiet call for help:
Can anybody see me?
