"Forever is composed of nows." --Emily Dickenson

I stay up late, pretending to be asleep,
and watch as the magic begins,
slowly at first, they emerge from beyond,
and mingle with all their friends,
all at once, they decide to float down,
and kiss every last blade of grass
leaving their footprints on daisies,
and creating a mosaic on the glass,
they graze over the sidewalk,
nudging the pavement along the way,
helping each other paint the tree leaves,
and they all roll around on the hay,
they giggle into the forest,
glittering by every piece of life,
and with one last chilled breath, they are done for the night,
the sun begins to rise, and their jobs are finished,
as everyone awakes to a morning frost.

The author's comments:
I used to sit up at night and try to see how the frost got on all the leaves outside. I always fell asleep, but when I woke up for school it was there. This is how I think I would've imagined it as a kid. I hope everyone can relate to this one.
