It hurt,
When confidence and optimistic cheer came crushing to the floor.
It almost burned reading the letter that came that day
“I’m sorry to say but we have no room for you…”
In the only place that mattered.
For one, they say they’re sorry,
No, in fact, they’re not.
It hurt,
Knowing that this world is sometimes filled
with the worst rejections.
“I’m sorry, you simply aren’t good enough.”
