Into the Night
Into the night, the skaters spin
about a round and round again.
When faster, faster they do skate
 a grand phenomenon create,
and see a different setting then.

Snow banks and trees, the clouds had been
and the sky was ice wearing thin.
They were lured, the stars used as bait,
 into the night.

The lanterns they held, made of tin,
 became the stars, shining within.
 They stay to forever await
 the opening of heaven’s gate.
 There, transfixed forever to spin
 into the night.
