Always Me
His eyes were red rimmed from crying, or maybe throwing up.
The usual sparkle they had was gone, hidden like the sun behind clouds. Although he was trying to fight, I could tell he had little left in him.
I knew this because I usually backed down quickly from our arguments.
This one, was different.
Or maybe I was different.
Either way it was me this time, able to yell back.
Able to say how I felt.
Able to walk away.
I knew he didn't need this, yet another person to let him down.
But then I remembered that feeling I had.
The pain from his words.
I suppose this fight wasn't so different after all.
Because after everything it's still me. The one who wants to apologize, the one who wants to suck my words back in.
It's still me who wants to make everything better.
The one who doesn't want to let go.
It's still me, who loves him.
