Let Us Rewind
A Father holds his child and whispers an apology.
The kicked down door returns to the frame.
Locked.
The little girl retreats terrified
Splinters of amber glass flow together forming the bottle, dark liquid pours back in.
Drunken shouts dim into muffled whispers
The small child stands in front of her father, with a red cheek fading and tears flowing back into her blue eyes
Her feet go into reverse carrying her away, the door swings open as she is let outside.
Cars drive backwards, as she makes her way to the grass
Her dolls are back in her hand, preparing for the ball
She sits in the grass with a smile on her face unafraid not now and time resumes.
The yelling begins, the glass is thrown
The concerned daughter runs inside never understanding only caring.
