Love Kills Slowly—But I’m Still Breathing
Before all the feathers can slip away,
Before I’m lost in insanity,
Please, know,
I’m writing this for you.
Because you were there,
Then and before,
Before I lost,
To my own heart.
You were there,
And you loved me.
I’m sitting in an empty room,
A sunset of dark pink and blue,
How much it hurt; those words he said,
They made me think of you.
And before the grains of sandy time,
Slip away, no longer mine,
Please, know,
I’m thankful for you.
Because you were there,
Then and before,
Before he went,
And broke my heart.
You were there,
And you loved me.
I wonder what it is, I’ve done,
I wonder just where I’ve gone,
Away from your loving eyes,
Love kills slowly
—but I’m still alive.
All because of you.
You’re the reason why.
Because you were there,
Then and before,
Before I lay broken,
On the floor.
You were there,
And you loved me.
