The Monster
The Monster
I felt as if I were on top of the world.
I was hugging the love of my life and never wanted to let go.
He was not only my paw paw, but also my best friend.
I was with him every day and the happiness would never end
Until a monster called “Lymphoma” came and fought my paw paw.
But he made it out alive and we never saw Lymphoma again.
I was the happiest little girl again,
Until another monster showed up, called “Lung Cancer” this time.
He ripped out Paw Paw’s hair and made him skinny and pale, forcing him to stay in bed.
Then he gave Paw Paw black, sunken-in eyes
And some lady named “Hospice” had to try to save him.
When I asked paw paw if he was okay,
All he would say was “Yes, baby.”
All he wanted to do was sleep.
Was he really that week?
The last monster must have been much stronger than the first,
Because it was taking paw paw much longer to win.
But I was sure he would, for he was the strongest man I knew!
But one day, I went to go visit my paw paw.
I learned that the monster won the fight
And took my paw paw’s life.
They said that Lung Cancer took over his entire body,
And that kept saying that Paw Paw “Lost the fight.”
Why would anyone want to take my paw paw away from me?
It’s not fair!
