Sunken in a day-mare filled with screams
With eyes screwed shut does he dream,
For at the fabled step of heaven’s gate
This poor, disquixotted man does wait,
And he turns his face up to devil’s smiles
Which deosculate his cheeks, but all the while
His best friend waits for dead men’s shoes,
A dittology of friendship, he does deepmuse,
Until none too gently dawed by day-spring
And to him an omen a deathwatch does bring.
