Destruction of Words
Words cheat us as our tongues fail
Flailing around like fish out of water
Beating bloody their crimson bodies so frail
Trying to balance the verbal teeter-totter

Forked in our mouths, our fangs set with poison
Our lips pursed and at the ready
We violently begin the oral corrosion
Serpentine tongues lashing out so deadly

Sharpened and fine, the blade of a knife
Flashing in the light of the morning
Quick to draw blood and cause much strife
Slicing through the heart with little warning

 Acidic, boiling, raging within
 Barely contained at the surface
Bubbling, anxious for the burning to begin
 Arsenic with malicious purpose

The tongue is a weapon so deadly and harsh
And there is little defense for her blows
She strikes with precision, straight to the heart
And leaves scars and bloodstains wherever she goes
