Freedom Unimagined
I’m going up,
 I’m going down,
 I’m going left,
 And I’m going right.
 I’m going to anywhere,
But I end up at nowhere.

You can do anything you want, honey.
 I really can,
I can set fire to all I hate, destroying everything,
 And still escape.

 But, no, I lied,
 I can’t escape,
Not from my own tight embrace
And harm this world I see.

 I don’t need this freedom.

I don’t need trash tumbling in the streets.
 I don’t need a thousand extinct species.
I don’t need orphans living in slumps.
I don’t need a different disaster to remember each day.
I don’t need to end this world--

 That’s someone else’s freedom.
