In order to write about life, first you must live it!<br /> Ernest Hemingway

Hold me to this empty promise,
My loaded lies provide me solace
This path is one to go alone-
Just one more soul down Dreamer’s Row.

Perhaps I’m bound to my ideals,
Never meant to seek the ‘real’.
At length, I find this heart has changed;
I’m prone to stand against the rain.
So deep in thought I am asleep,
While the catcher claims Her dreams to keep.

I see no beauty, I see no core,
But still I’m always wanting more.
What you give is what I’ll take;
I steal with words and gestures fake.
One small lie can change it all,
The bigger they are, the harder they fall.
Hand me your heart, and my seeds I’ll sew,
Just one lost soul down Dreamer’s Row.

I love your smile, and we’re the same—
Behind your eyes, I see your shame.
You can hide it, think it tame;
Kiss me soft to play my game.

For this service, I seek your heart—
I only ask for every part.
You know I want to watch it grow;
The gardener on Dreamer’s Row.

Tell me; if you think me sane,
You’ll hold my hand along this lane?
I have your heart—do you have mine?
In this moon, your features shine.

You’ve taken me to heights above;
I’ll clip your wings, my pretty dove.
In the end, they’ll be mine, you know,
Carrying my trophy down Dreamer’s Row.

While you bleed, I’ll hold you close
As my venom gives its final dose
And take your heart, my lovely stone;
I’ll show you that you’re all alone.

Down this way, I creep, I stalk,
I love, I hate, I scream, I talk.
I raise it up, then down I mow,
The viper lurking on Dreamer’s Row.

When you’re gone, as with your dreams
I’ll hold you down and sew your seams
And raise you up, back from the ground
Where you’d lay without a sound—
That is, of course, unless for me,
Who lets you live for some small fee.

You’ll meet the gates, be due your toll,
The worker asks you for your soul.
You’ve chased them far, you’ve followed high
These olden dreams strung in the sky;
This path is one to go alone,
Just one more soul down Dreamer’s Row.

Just one lost soul down Dreamer’s Row.
