Coffee
I
the purest white scalds
my pallid skin. it flushes
over me.
i stand,
waiting for more to
come
but none does.
II
i slip to the
side:
i watch you part your hair
to the left,
fluff it
i attempt to drift off.
i can’t. you’ve given me too much energy.
i hop up: dance. walk. stretch.
III
i have lost my voice.
you stole it, i am sure of it.
let us trade: my voice for my body
you don’t see my logic:
why would i give up my body, you wonder.
it cannot sing or laugh
like my voice can.
it cannot protest.
i will be seulement an echo
