I am Dog
These paws that you can't see 'nor feel
These ears that can detect what you cannot hear
This fur that brushes up against you
yet you seem to not notice
These howls that are so far off
so distant, it seems
These barks, so real even your dog replies back
The growls, so vicious, so menacing... And so cold
like a dog without fur, unprotected
from winter's harsh glance
These eyes that are so soulful and so wise
glare into your own eyes, not even knowing
what is going to happen next
Will I attack, or will I run the other way, tail between legs?
I'm not sure what I will do, but I know
that through all of this,
through all of my life - past and present, even future,
I know that I am Dog.
