Falling asleep.
My head nodding
as if in response
to the people talking.
My eyelids droop,
shutting out all light.
My arms are numb,
but they can move
to form a buttress
for my throbbing skull.
I can hear the noise,
but it's in the back of my mind.
In my head,
I can see the animals,
like fluffy white clouds.
Flying over the walls
one by one.
Finally
the darkness overtakes me
and I fall into the depths
of lethargy and dreams.
