Window Panes
Blocking the view
of the outdoors.
White bars,
restricting me
from seeing
my potential.
From seeing
the baby birds
grow old and
leave the nest.
From seeing
the leaves on trees
turn brown with time.
The window panes
are like jail bars.
White, plastic,
flimsy-looking,
yet they keep prisoners.
But whenever I've had enough
of trying to look around them,
I just go the back of the house.
The windows there don't have them.
