What I Get For Being Me
People touch me with their eyes
And hit me with their words
When I walk in a room
 The silence burns
Yet their whispers are truthful lies
And all of them see right through my disguise
 I can’t run, I can’t hide
They take my wisdom and squash my pride
Words are worse than stick and stones,
They don’t hit you in your bones, they hit you in your heart.
