A flower's finish
With faded petal, the flower creeps
to window
to drink its last rays of sun
made more precious by inevitable loss
its evanescent days soon over
to be loved by butterflies on bright morn
then to be ruthlessly plucked where it stood
taken from its natural home
encaged in a cold glass vase
a cruel prison
no warm brown earth
even as it was admired
and showed its vivid hue
it was doomed to die
it raises its faded head to the sun
knows its wilted glory
and remembers what was
recollects how bees
once swarmed
