Upon the stars in the sky,
Lies the dreams of small kids,
Dreading the word 'goodbye',
As death starts to win with higher bids.
Lots of hopes and dreams,
Lots of hugs and kisses,
We're tearing at the seams,
As we pray for a lot more blisses.
With the right to live,
Why do they feel this pain?
Hug one more relative,
Just to keep from going insane.
Cancer eats at all of them,
We still love them all,
We still consider them our gem
We'll pick them up when they fall.
Stand by their side,
Don't say goodbye,
In you, they will confide,
Let them be the stars in the sky!

I'm glad you liked it. "Goodbye" is never an easy thing to say let alone when you're suffering something deadly that can take you at any minute. It's not fear that they have to live in fear of when their last goodbye is. I do believe that they should be granted lots of recognition.

Touching, very touching. This poem really seemed to articulate what it's like to face, as you say, the word 'goodbye.' The last few lines lifted my hopes, however, so this was a wonderfully emotional and uplifting piece. Thanks for it.
