Her Mirror
Eyes rest on the mirror.
 A glimpse requires an adjustment,
 A tweak to the thoughts;
 An alteration to character.
 Slowly the impression takes shape.
 An image molded over time,
 A mask delicately fixed in place;
 A role develops into reality.
 Soon time has slipped away.
 A thought comes rushing in,
 A desire to remove the mask;
 A need for its fracture.
 Reality cannot be reversed.
 A truth dictated in pain,
 A point clear in the reflection;
 A facade now the only thing staring back.
 Fragility emphasized as the pane shatters.
 A persona lost,
 A pathetic excuse is smashed;
 A terrible reality is left looming,
 No substance lies beyond vanity.
