Mirror
If water was glass
If you looked in mirrors
You’d find more than
You’d imagined
Staring back at you
Wanting you to
Want
Want to be more
Than the windows
And doors
You keep closed
Being cold is better than
Stale
The reflection demands of you
Power
To break all the plastic
That keeps you safe from thorns
Wanting you to want
Some other reflection
Beside yours in the
Water glass, your other
To always be yours
If only you wanted
Maybe you’d receive
The gifts you never dared add to your list
In the mirror
You’d see
Perhaps
A you
Who never grew into work-clothes
And bandaids
He’d scowl
From his filth covered face
He wants the sun
You only want space
Look in the mirror
You filthy grown up
Want to want more than
Detergent and stability
Windows and doors
Are filthy mirrors
For someone who could
See so much more
